Rowing is not all about training training training. As a University, socials are an important aspect of making the most out of the whole experience and there needs to be a focus on meeting some fantastic individuals from many different backgrounds.

All Boat Club socials have a unique theme and start at 8 o’clock sharp every Wednesday. We usually meet at the Old Picture House on Beverley Road, followed by the ‘Bev Road’ bar crawl. After plenty of drinking games and lots of friendly banter we finally reach the University nightclub, Asylum.

Socials are for all members and even friends of members. In fact, each year HUBC recruits many new ‘social members’ that may not ever have rowed, but still have considerable influence on the club.

Directions to the Old Picture House from the Lawns:

105 EYMS bus from the lawns centre and stay on past the University and the Haworth Arms/Sainsbury’s junction until the ‘Esso Garage stop’ on Beverley Road. The Old Picture House is one of three pubs on the left hand side of the road.

Details of when and where each social begins are given after the Thursday circuit training sessions or through the FACEBOOK group.
